Frustrations with VSDC Video Editor Pro: A Review

When using VSDC Video Editor Pro, we encountered several issues that made it difficult to achieve our desired editing goals. One of the most notable problems was when attempting to split a video clip, only to find that any portion of the clip beyond the splitting point becomes unplayable and appears as a still image.

In contrast, Adobe Photoshop and other basic video editors allow for more flexibility in trimming clips by enabling users to override the cutting point by extending the clip length. This provides fine adjustments and greater control over the editing process. VSDC's Split Into Parts Tool is more familiar, but it has its own limitations – dividing the video into two tracks, resulting in a complex timeline view.

Another frustration we experienced was the inability to extend clips by dragging the end handles. This made it difficult to achieve precise trimming and cutting of the desired sections. Cutting a clip altogether removes all content past the cursor location from the project, essentially deleting the video beyond that point – an unexpected and inconvenient outcome.

Furthermore, some of the basic functions in VSDC Video Editor Pro were also found to be frustrating to work with. Tracks can only be rearranged on the timeline using the Up and Down arrow buttons, which is a cumbersome process compared to other video editors. This lack of flexibility and precision made it challenging to understand how to use these features effectively.

Overall, our experience with VSDC Video Editor Pro was marred by several issues that hindered our ability to achieve smooth editing. While some users may be able to overcome these challenges, for others, the software's limitations may prove too frustrating to continue using.
